Work From Home- New culture and New Normal

A year before when I was starting my WORK FROM HOME office, few laughed at me stating that it wouldn’t be possible and sand not effective too. I told them that this actually our future which they did not believe.

Now the Covid pandemic created the new way of surviving though by force but true. Now most of us are following the work from office concept. I have been speaking to few of my old team members and my mentees–tgere version was in complete favour of this concept. In fact I found it

  • Effective
  • Productive
  • Less disturbance
  • Focused

Many more benefits.
Most important point I want to make that is cost effective. The company doesn’t need a space now and team members can be at ease and in a better environment of home and yes one feels at home always no hurry to run from office.

Now there are two issues..
Skill set to work from home and Performance & monitoring often tasks.
As far as the issue of skill set is there, I am of the opinion that the time and discipline is important for everyone who is working from home.

Home is an office though it is home and hence during work one has to remember that he/she is in the job during task completion time. One can not be at leisure. The email, spreadsheet, and online discussions are added things in home office working environment.

I would suggest one should mark a table and chair a little out from bed room should make a office environment inside home.
For the second issue of performance and monitoring… Frequent online meetings with agenda must be done. Also one to one VEDIO call is a good way to monitor an individual.

An issue which I felt is.. Easy going person s may slip dates and discussions set by superiors. This is where the superiors would know his/her involvement in daily work from home office. For such person a frequent call or on decided date and time will be essential.
Team leaders should set their clusters with tasks and target dates. Superior will speak to cluster heads may be every day and must look into weekly reviews.
This is how I believe the home office will prove good office.
