Management is doing things right, leadership is doing the right things

A CEO leads an organization and controls any and all resources in the organization. He is charged with the responsibility to steer the organisation in the direction defined by the organization’s mission, vision, goals and objectives. He has short-term and long-term targets to achieve, and he is answerable for them to all stake holder of the company.

A CEO must provide direction and guidance so each associate – as well as the Company as a whole – can accomplish their tasks and achieve their goals.

From Steve Jobs to Donald Trump, Richard Branson to Howard Schultz, from Bill Gates to Ralph Lauren – we have had the privilege to see and learn from some brilliant minds and great managers!

Here’s what i say about higher management, leadership and being a great manager as a part of my experience to them taking organization on high and making them sustainable during tough times.

  1. “PERFORMANCE of the organization and associates doesn’t come on its own.  It needs to be targeted and people are prepared much in advance”
  2. Make a note of it…”you should never reward under performance of associates….Once you make that mistake, the associates will never get a challenge to raise the bar.
  3.  TO surpass targets you need special people, I mean people who are biased for action and who execute plans
  4. As a CEO, You should be nurturing the DNA of performers for they bring the bearings of organization,  After all the business is people “
  5. Remember it is your responsibility to teach & train your team.. Because you want them to take challenges & Create performing organization
  6.  You must build the organization on the strength of performance not just on designations. De-designate the teams and bind them in profiles.
  7. Promote a team member only when a new profile comes up for a benefit in the organization. Do not promote just for raising designation. You can reward financially for a good performance.
  8. In my last 15yrs at CXOs level in various organizations, I learned – appoint one person less than the numbers estimated by HR. This gives a leveled play ground to each of the players. The one who performs will be team leader without doubt
  9. While you are trying to bring or control the cost of production… Dig every corner of the organization. The big tickets anyone can sense but intertwined items can be sensed with razor-sharp focus only
  10. There is invisible link between associate’s performance and financial performance of the organization. It is not the finance department who brings profit, it is the associates operate and maintain the Plant. All others are enablers”
  11. As you grow in the hierarchy of on organization, You actually see people in a ladder format.. Break all and recreate with respect to the current business & keep recreating it.

This all points are true and tested during my past vast experience and helpful for new generation also.
